Detroit Evolution Lab located near Eastern Market the Detroit Evolution Lab is ran by two wonderful people Angela and Gregg that are dear friends of ours, the offer cooking classes, yoga, monthly films on thought provoking subjects and many more events.
Adornment Deluxe Michigan's premier body piercing specialty studio. Ran by two very special friends of ours, they carry many hard to find and beautiful pieces of jewelry, everything in the store is vegan, even the ivory pieces.

Local Animal Welfare/ Animal Rights Groups:
SASHA Farm SASHA Farm, located in Manchester, Michigan, is the Midwest's largest Farm Sanctuary, they have many animals that have been rescued from neglectful or abusive situations.
S.M.A.R.T. Southeast Michigan Animal Rights Team, a great and very active group of people helping to educate the public on the abuses animals face daily.
Meet up Groups:
Metro Detroit Vegan Meet up meets at least monthly for social gatherings, typically meeting at a local restaurant for dinner.
VegAnnArbor VegAnnArbor has many social events, congrats to Nicole for forming this group and having so many great events.
Southeast Michigan Raw Food Meet up has monthly potlucks in Livonia and lead by a personal friend Michael Dwyer

Here is a list of locally owned health food stores and Co-ops, We are leaving the nationally owned chain off the list as every knows the about them.
Good Food Company, Troy one of our favorite stores, good selection of bulk items, all produce is organic, friendly and knowledgeable staff there to help you.
Natural Food Patch, Ferndale another of our favorite stores, very good prices on many items, everything in the store is organic.
Zerbo's, Livonia a beacon of light in the Livonia area, a very good selection with a lot of hard to find items for those who try to eat raw, has a very nice juice bar.

Better Health Stores several locations throughout the metro area.
Ypsilanti Food Co-op a wonderful Co-op located in Depot Town area of Ypsi, a very pleasant store with their own bakery next door that makes fabulous sourdough bread. If you live in the area, or just passing through, you have to stop in and visit.
People's Food Co-op, Ann Arbor located in Kerrytown, has a good selection of items, a wonderful hot food bar and a nice coffee house, Cafe Verde.
Arbor Farms Market, Ann Arbor located on Stadium, a very nice store with a great selection of items.
Other:
Greening of Detroit a great group working to make Detroit a better place by planting trees and gardens inside the city.
Detroit's Historic Eastern Market a wonderful place to go and spend the day shopping for fresh fruits and vegetables, the shops surrounding the market have a wide selection of items, it is well worth visiting.
Muddy Water Zen Temple we had to put in a plug for our shanga. :) Located in Royal Oak, it is a small temple that is very friendly and makes you feel at home.

Nonviolence United a wonderful group that ties together all the effects of eating animal products has on humanity and the environment.
American Vegan Society The American Vegan Society is a nonprofit educational membership organization teaching a compassionate way of living that includes veganism.
Vegan Society based in the United Kingdom a great web site for information.
North American Vegetarian Society holds the Vegetarian Summerfest, a great place to hear the benefits of of a vegan diet and be in a place with like minded people, enjoying vegan food,
Vegan Outreach a great group that provides the ever popular "Why Vegan" pamphlet. Their web site is a great source of factual information on the benefits of a vegan diet and the ill effects of an animal diet on the environment and our health.
Animal Welfare/ Animal Rights Groups:
Mercy for Animals a group started originally in Ohio that has grown to include chapters in Chicago and Asheville, NC. They do a great job at getting the message out through effective advertising.
In Defense of Animals a great group working on a wide variety of AR issues.
Raw Food:
Creative Health Institute located in Union City, Michigan about 2 hours west of Detroit. One of the original places teaching the benefits of raw or living foods.
